You literally took the words out of my mouth. Companies do this all the time. If they need to downsize and they're not at will employers they will fire you over really anything, drug test is just the easiest way because then they don't pay for unemployment.

Just because someone has done drugs doesn't mean they're druggies or have drug problems. A lot of people smoke pot recreationally (on the weekends, at parties), or to wind down, the same way some people will have a beer. I personally don't see a problem with it as long as they're not high on the job, it's not affecting their work, and they're not a doctor, teacher, police officer or anything where someone's wellbeing is in their hands... But then again they probably knew the possibility of drug testing when they got the job, and still did it anyway. lol.
