Today, I finally decided to get a dog. I have always been wanting to get one ever since I was a child. I bought a $1,400 Golden Retriever. I went out for lunch a few hours later with a friend, so I left my dog in the backyard. I came back home to a broken fence and no dog. FML

Why didn't you tie it up? If it was a new pet, you don't know how it's going to react. YDI for not making sure it was secure!

dont have kids, please you cant even take care of a dog...

#6 FTW. You payed $1,400 for a dog that was probably born in a puppy mill, when there are thousands in pounds that are lined up to be die. Not to mention, those are typically under $100, if not FREE. YDI.

Go to a shelter, asshole Don't Breed or Buy While Homeless Pets Die

There are thousands of unloved Golden Retriever puppies in shelters all over the country. You could have adopted one of those. However, with your pet skills, I wouldn't even go that far.

That's what you get for spending $1400 on a pet when there are millions of free shelter animals who need homes.

wtf is wrong with you? any pet owner should know that you don't just leave a pet in your yard a few hours after you got it!!! 1. you didn't deserve that pet 2. you deserved to have it taken away from you, and your life isn't the one that's f***ed, the dog's is. it may be taken to a shelter and put down, or forced to be a stray it's entire life. OR it may have to live with a pet owner who has no clue what to do to take care of pets, no wonder you didn't get one before. 3. I agree, don't have kids 4. find the dog a good home where people know how to take care of it, or learn if you intend to keep it if you find it 5. pet's are not like something you get like a new car and leave it somewhere as soon as something fun comes up, not something you just use when you want to, it's a living creature that needs love, care, attention, and competency in an owner. if you can't provide that find someone who can if you find your dog. 6. if you spent that much you probably bought from a breeder, when innocent dogs are put down every day in shelters and if you have always wanted a dog you would THINK you would want to take care of it and care about something more than the breed and price tag... it's the dog's personality that counts and that should be the main factor in getting the dog 7. there are so many more things I could say but I'll stop now I wish that dog good luck and that you realize what a big deal a pet is

You paid $1,400 for a Golden Retriever? You're an idiot! We got a purebred, AKC registered Golden with champion bloodlines from a reputable breeder just last fall. We paid $375. Fail on your part. I'm still sorry you lost the dog, but you really shouldn't leave one unattended until you know how its going to respond to its surroundings ...even then, not the best idea.

you deserve this for not putting the dog in the house. now who knows what's going to happen to your poor puppy? and don't listen to the people who say $1,400 is an insane price, because that's really not because that's a normal price for a good golden.
